Trike Tug

Sharing the custom Tug I built for my Yukon. The Drive is an electric transaxle from an electric wheelchair that I got on eBay. Front wheel self locks into a cradle that is positioned so Nose Gear Pivot is centered on the Tug Wheel axles. I added a web strap boat winch to pull the Nose Gear onto the Tugger, The Tugger had enough torque ,but not traction before the Nose Gear weight is on the wheels. The strap winch is good since it also holds wheel from bouncing out if going over bumps. This maneuvers much better than my previous Tug that used a Tow Bar. The double pivot points when backing up was tricky.
Nice project to keep building after the airplane was finished. My Yukon now has 170hr and been flying 3 years.

Very nice tug, when you go into the nose wheel cradle does it raise the nose gear much above the ground? We are building a Moose with the tricycle gear option and we need to be able to raise the nose wheel up enough to get the tail under our bifold hangar door. Just wondering how much, if any, it raises the nose wheel. Nice job and clever tug build.

I kept it low and it is about 2" above the floor in the cradle.
