FWD Float Mounts - Elite/Rebel & ????

So, today's question is about the FWD fuselage mount for floats, I'm working on an Elite but I expect it's the same for a Rebel too.
The float fitting kit for the fuselage comes with a couple of machined extrusion pieces, FL-55 and a bag full of 3/16" rivets (maybe for the FUS-42-1s?). Unfortunately the float mount kit doesn't seem to come with instructions for mounting the FL-55 to the fuselage.
I was thinking that they should bolt to the fuselage in place of the spring gear mounts, what have you guys done with them?
