AD / SB Plastic Amphib Hydraulic Reservoir Lid

Before further flight. Remove reservoir lid and inspect the gasket for security. I highly suggest you remove it all together.

Wow, sad to think that could have wrecked your airplane.

The bonus of having your own wet, soft, grass strip ! Pavement would have had those wear strips back to the skins! :wtf:

Just got back from a flight to the lake (1st since my last shoulder surgery) and checked my reservoir cap. It does have a cork liner. Here are a couple pics.

Are this the same cap? Mine seems to be OK, no sign of any cork deterioration. It has two vents in the cork, and one on top of the cap. Is it possible your cork vents got plugged (bugs?) and got sucked into the tank and eventually found its way to the inlet?

Totally clean Walter, the cork just dislodged and headed for the tank.

Note the difference though, my lid has a center peg and cork has the hole in the center to fit it. Too bad it didn't get a ringer on the outlet tube!

Yeah, mine is different, no centre peg. Solid cork to fill the entire inside of the cap, with just two vent holes in the cork near the sides, and the centre vent hold in the cap.

Just checked IWH.. and it, like yours Walter is a lid about 1 3/8" OD. Same dual vent hole cork, nicely in place.

The reservoir in mine has a lid of about 2" OD. Center post, cork not overly secure as noted previously! :wtf:

Checked mine today as I get it ready for the season and it is like Walters. Wayne did your cork not get compressed between cap and bottle? Did the the cork just deteriorate to the point it wasn't held in anymore. Cycled my gear 15 times as well.

Cork looks fine Ray, still soft. Rim of reservoir is only an 1/8th" wide at best so I guess it just decided to dislodge the last time I put the lid back on and fell into the tank.
