Ok Jean !

This is really 'navigation by consensus' !! :-)

Thank you for the offer to look after everything - that
is a BIG help for us !!

It's great if you can meet up with us .... It really IS a long
shot right now - depends on weather, and other variables !

We'll let you know, as soon as WE do !!! ;-) :-)

How about some more Ramblers ??? Anybody up for
a quick run to check things out for next year ???????????
(How about those FAST Ramblers - Per ?? Clive ??
maybe even Peter B. could come ??? )

It's almost as quiet here as when I suggested "Maybe
we can continue on to Thief River Falls ..." ;-) :-)

Pick up those jaws, and come on along !! You only
go around once ! :-)

Ken is tempted and so am I but won't know until probably tomorrow morning.
Tom is probably still away.

It all sounds great ! Jean is certainly rolling out the red carpet

I know it's pretty wild - but, if we can, maybe we should !!
It's all Anna's fault - I joked that we should go this weekend,

Bob,

You got my attention alright! I had my trike up for the first time this
morning and there are few things I'd like to sort out. In the meantime,
I've been down to Aviation World to get a Montreal VNC and I'm looking at
the route. Sounds like a great trip but I think it may be too big a bite
for me to make it to Marcotte in one day.

I'm still thinking hard though!!!

Bye for now,
Peter

[rebel-ramble] Quick Ramble to Quebec

Post by Alain Ouellet » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:48 am

Bob,

I am quite tempted. That is a little bit on short notice, I have to move
daughter to St-Catharine's and my son is also coming from Montreal...
Tempting, tempting, my wife just mentioned that to me...

Who knows Per, Peter and/or Clive could be tempted too, like you say.

My brother lives on the south shore of Quebec City in Pintemdre and there is
a dirt strip on the same road, not more than 5 minutes away. I am itching.

Thanks for Jean Poirier on his assistance in St-Basille de Portneuf and the
welcoming committee.

On another topic for next summer, there is the Red Bull air race in the
process of been organised for Quebec City 400th anniversary. That would be a
great thing if these two could be combined. Still dreaming.

Alain

Hi Peter !

We'll have to work on getting you a Rebel ! :-)
In the meantime, maybe Jim has a seat ..... ;-)

What is your cruise speed ?? Maybe if you left early in the
morning ..... (Tom could lend you the rooster !) ;-)

You certainly could take the VFR corridor over Montreal,
maybe from St. Lazare - it's only 1,000 ft., but great scenery !! :-)

Sure be an interesting flight !! Guess you could take a
bit longer coming home ...

There is a good chance that I could go and if so have a seat available.

I will know by tomorrow night.

Its not a Rebel but a Zenith CH300, a little bit faster though.

I am based at the Brampton Flying Club.

Hi Alain !

Be good if you can make it . Nobody is certain at the moment,
but I hope to hear from everybody soooooooon ....... ;-)

This is just a quick 'check it out' trip - to help with planning
for next year. This time, I hope we can get a group together
and figure out all the places to stop along the way - maybe
in the early spring, once the various fly-in breakfast dates
are settled. Next year, possibly Iroquois, Cornwall, St. Lazare,
Alexandria, Drummonville, ...... lots of possibilities -- we can
Ramble a bit, then spend 2 or 3 days in beautiful Quebec City -
maybe catch the Red Bull air races - although that might
be an expensive zoo !! Anyway - lots to think about !!

Hi Peter !

Sounds a bit slow for this trip, but should work out OK
for Ramble '08 - we don't go too far on a real Ramble ! :-)

Hope you can join us. Sounds like Alain might have a seat
too, IF he can come ... And maaaaybeeee Bob Noppe will
be coming too, with his C-172 ....

We aren't planning on taking a tent this time - maybe
a sleeping bag or 2, but we should be able to find a motel
for a night or 2 ... so packing will be easier, and loads lighter -
which is "A Good Thing"(tm) considering the length of
the strips ...

You don't have to detour south of Montreal - there's
a VFR corridor right through the middle ! We've flown
it several times - it runs from St. Lazare to Mascouche,
along the highway .... at 1,000 ft. !!! Saves a lot of
time !

Hi Bob,

My cruise on this trike is only 50 knots which is about 5 knots slower

There is some tuning I can do to the wing to pick up a bit of speed.
Generally 250-300 miles is a pretty good day for me. With a bit of a
detour around the south side of Montreal and allowing for following a few
roads, it must be closer to 400 miles.

I think I'll talk to Jim in the morning and see how things are shaping up
for him and whether he has a spare seat.

Sounds like a fun trip. Who knows, it just might come together yet!!

Thanks,

I knew I'd be blamed for this, sooner or later ! Well OK, it WAS me who said
... the long weekend is coming ... and it was such a nice flying day on Sunday
.. and we do have that unused GPS that needs airing out ....

I thought these were GOOD arguments ! After another of Bob's 'Devil's Lake

.. :o\

Jean - you did not realize what you were getting yourself into !! Did you ???
Thanks for your offer. We might be seeing you very soon if this 'reserved'

This is my story and I'm sticking to it :o) .... anna
