OK we talked it over and are going to go for at least Gore Bay. Should
be airborne about 1030 with a stop at Wiarton. ;)
We'll spend the night in Gore Bay if need be.

since 6:15 .... a BIG chunk o' that there Nimble Stratus stuff ....

Here's a couple of radar sites - have a peek ....

There's a solid line between us and Manistique ... and
Wiarton is always soggy ....

We're carrying on getting ready - but it looks a bit scarey
right now ....

Might work well for Ken to head up to Wingham ... easy to
scoot back to Guelph if it gets uglier, but closer to the north
if it doesn't ...

Will check back here in a couple of hours ...

Anybody have a cell phone - if you get to Gore Bay, we
can keep you posted....

Well Tom, you and I with our Rotax Rebels will just have to leave early so
that the rest can catch us!

I'm going to do the same Ken, still some work things to get out of the way.
Overnight in Gore Bay if necessary.

Jim

Yes, I have to admit that I am jealous of Bob and his ability to sleep in.
One of my objectives on this trip is to get him to show me how to do that!

Thank you but I don't think Wingham is really any closer than Guelph and
I'm so full right now that I'll have to take off or go drain some before
it warms up today ;)
I should be fine. Now we just need that rooster to visit Bob but good
on him if he managed to sleep in. Looks like decent VFR at the moment
but I'll go with Bob's decision on whether to launch. I'd guess that
it's go today or possibly get delayed here for up to two days...

One thing about sealed AGM batteries is that they can sit on the shelf
for a couple of years and still start an engine. I wasted a couple of
days trying to program maps on the new gps that took a month to receive.
Not sure I accomplished much but hey a new toy has to be played with...
Never did get a new database unlocked. This copy protection BS has
gone a bit far such that I don't think I'd recommend this unit.

Excellant!
I expect to cruise fairly slow based on the umm gross weight performance
of the machine... ;)
I've filed and 1030 looks realistic so far...

Hi Ken Which GPS did you buy? I put my floats on yesterday all that's left
is to get marsh to up the insurance again. I was planning to meet up with
you guys at Killarney or Gore bay but I have to be at work tommorrow
morning and it doesn't look good for a return trip this afternoon. So have
a fun and safe trip. Is the Wingham feild the main airport or the old
Cruikshank strip?

Sounds like we're back to the original plan !! OK by me !

See everybody at Gore Bay - likely we'll be 'the last guys' !! :-(

Ken's right - the nasty stuff looks like it'll be south of there
anyway, so we'll likely be alright tomorrow - or later today,
IF we can get there in time. There's a radar terminal now
in GB ...

We're off !!! :-)

Tuesday July 3

The group did head off in a rather fragmented way today. Jim and Tom and
Ken are in either Drummond Island(camping) or Schoolcraft(moteling). We
don't actually have a report from them at the moment 10:45pm EDT.
Bob is still in Brampton fighting with his battery. Bob is hoping to
launch in the morning Wednesday and try to catch up with the group.
Hopefully things will link up in fairly short order.

[rebel-ramble] Ramble Early start

TO ALL REBEL RAMBLE SUPPORTERS IN THE CHEERING SECTION.

I just checked Bob P's update message on his phone and Bob advises that the
Ramble launched on Tuesday July 3rd.

Apparently 5 or 6 guys launched today (July 3rd) and are expected to be
camping on Drumond Island (I hope my spelling is correct?) or in Schoolcraft
(Spelling?) if all goes well.

Bob reports that he is still at home with two bad batteries!

I will check Bobs answering machine daily, up to and including the 8th of
the month, and post what information I can glean from his answering machine.

Stay tuned

Brian Breathnach

Brian,

We should be in touch on your arrival in High River. I understand you
are catching a bus from Calgary to High River then moteling it. Do you
have a cell while on the road? What time do you arrive Calgary? How? We
may be able to ensure the group has the use of my car when they arrive
if they arrive at noonish on the 10th (Ron's arrival at YYC). Maybe
contact me direct (garry@davincibb.net).
