[rebel-ramble] transponder

The plane has an old Apollo GPS that is going to be removed from the
radio stack. Thus, I will probably put a Garmin GTX320A in the panel. To
feed a readable altitude I will probably get the Dynon 10A which means a
fair number of dollars. That will back up the T&B indicator I've added
to assure let down from the clag if it ever occurred. This will not
happen for this summer. I do a little work for my son-in-law and intend
to direct purchases like that through that cash stream(dribble). I will
apply for the exemption like last year but only for the crossing to
Arlington.

Just curious if you have any panel space for a transponder and if so,
would you use a 2 1/4" round, or a std. (6.25"?) radio stack slot,
or...? Another curiosity, does the plane have an assigned mode S
transponder ID, which is issued with every registration here in US?
