Ramble '05 - scrubbed !

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Hi Ramblers !

Well, we got rained out !! The few hardy souls who camped
at Gore Bay beat a hasty retreat home on Saturday morning,
only getting a 'little bit' wet ! One day wouldn't have hurt much,
but the forecast and radar images were pretty scarey, and it
looked like 3 or 4 days of possibly severe storms, so ......

We're just doomed to never get to Killarney for Fish 'n Chips !
Every time we plan for there, something happens !! :-(

I guess that's it for this year, but we'll have another look on
Monday or Tuesday - maybe we can get up to North Bay, or so,
and still get back to head down to Oshkosh. Will keep you posted !

Really sorry we can't get up to Kap to visit Peter and Hazel !
We'll keep trying !

Tentative plans for next year are a big Ramble to the West Coast
again, to bring back a bunch of Rebels for a Northern Fly-in here
at Wayne's place in Temiskaming, then down to OSH .....
Anybody here interested ?? How about some Quebecers ??
Any 'Down-Easters' ??
.....bobp & Anna

To the west on 2006!?!?! All right! And of course there will be a RON at
Lyncrest with the requisite BBQ party, right? Should we start tentative
planning?

Peter and Chris Timm

Ramble '05 - scrubbed !

Post by Peter and Chris Timm » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

HI Bob and Anna:

Sorry things didn't work out for you this year. Please keep us in the loop
for info on next year as it sounds interesting, if I can persuade peter to
fly that far again.

We just had a flight up to Valemont yesterday (in the Rockies) to visit with
a bunch of glider guiders who too had experienced a week of miserable
weather. At last we seem to have summer with puffy cu's beckonning. Peter
now has a glider again and is up there as I write, hoping to add some miles
to the on-line contest for Pemberton.

Don't know if you'd be interested but it is at

http://www2.onlinecontest.org/

click on soaring box on the left
or
http://www2.onlinecontest.org/olcphp/ol ... ?olc=olc-i

to get to the soaring page directly.
then
Click on CA for Canada.

Pilots can check up on fellow fliers on a daily basis as they download the
information of their latest flights.

If you click on INFO you can see more detail of the flights (ground track
and barograph trace). The contest has revitalized gliding around the world
and is a lot of fun once you get used to the downloading technology and
operating the program.

Well back to work now, just thought I'd jot you a line.
Fly safely,
Chris
