Fuel in the North.

Post by Peter & Hazel Barbour » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Hi Bob, Anna & Ramblers:
Weekend fuel is always a problem at the smaller airports. You should not
have any problems at the larger airports like Sudbury(YSB), North Bay(YYB),
or Timmins(YTS) during regular hours -weekends included. The smaller
airports Earlton(YXR), Kirkland Lake(YKX), Cochrane(YCN), Kapuskasing(YYU),
Moosonee(YMO) have Avgas 100 available (in some cases ltd. hrs-check CFS)
and be aware that callout charges may apply. YYU has fuel available 8AM-5PM
(13z-22z?) Mon.-Fri., no callout. Safe Flying. See you Sunday. ...Peter

Hi Peter !

Of course your message belongs here !!! Congratulations on a GREAT
trip ! Glad to hear you got home safely - can't wait to see all the
pictures ! ;-) :-)

We're on the way on Friday, for a Warm-up Party at Gore Bay, then
on to Killarney (ONT. !), and North Bay for Saturday night. Hope to get
to Kap on Sunday. Any suggestions on best stops enroute for fuel -
Earlton, Kirkland Lake, Cochrane ... ?? Might have some aircraft
with short legs.... other can come non-stop. (IF the weather's OK !)

We do plan to have a look at Wayne's spot near Temiskaming -
he might even fly up with us from there ! That will likely be a small
detour ...

Looking forward to seeing you guys again !

Hi Ramblers !

There's still time to get maps - the package is called
Kit #031, from VIP Pilot supplies - 1-800-361-1696

The kit consists of:

Can. sectionals: Timmins
Toronto
US sectional: Lake Huron

I also ordered a new Can. Flight Supplement - always
a handy thing to have !

VIP will ship Priority Post, same day, and you'll get it
within a couple of days, usually.

See everyone at Gore Bay - doesn't matter when you get
in on Friday, if you can't meet at Brampton first. We'll be off to
town for a lively dinner, after pitching the tent on the lawn.
(Or maybe a friendly B&B, if it looks like it might get wet !) ;-)

Sounds like there might be a lot of Ramblers joining in
along the way ....

If anyone knows of someone who would like to share expenses,
I think Rob Swarts might have an empty seat in the Stinson ...
(Clive ???)

......bobp & Anna

Bob Patterson

Fuel in the North.

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Hi Peter !

Thanks for the heads-up ! Never would have expected a problem
on weekends - most flying down south is on the weekends only, so
mid-week can be a problem !!

Most likely we'll be filling at North Bay, next possibility was
Earlton, as Cochrane sounded like they weren't likely to be there...
and we can always wait 'til morning if we get to Kap on Sunday. :-)

Timmins looked a bit intimidating, with the tower and traffic.....
might have to stop there, though, by the sounds of things. I guess
you just do it all non-stop ! We might be able to, but some of the
others will definitely have to stop, so we'll try for shorter legs....

Thanks again, and we'll see you sooooooon ! :-)
