Planning Meeting this Saturday for Part II

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Hi Ramblers !

We just got home from Oshkosh tonight, about 7 pm - a
good show, but a long drive. Sure glad we drove, though - got lots
of 'cats & dogs' and 'blunder & frightening' there, (!!!)
and on the way home !! ;-) :-)

Just a reminder that the Planning Meeting is this Saturday,
August 9th, at the RAA-TR Clubhouse at the north end of Brampton
airport, at 11 am. The dates for Part II are: Aug. 24th to
Sept. 7th - of course, those with less time off could head
back right after the Stanley Fly-in, in a day or 2, if necessary.
Please bring along anything YOU have found useful for 'fly 'n camping',
and we will too - also some photos from Part I.... ;-) :-)
Folding chairs might be handy too, as seating is short.

We picked this time of year based on many reports of warm,
clear, sunny days for 'harvest time' down there - sure hope they
were right ! Thinking now that September can be very warm, but
the nights might get cold - maybe the sweater will get used this
time ... Hope it will be reasonably dry, but a poncho and a
folding umbrella might be handy !

Right now, we're thinking about camping quite often, as
larger airports (especially with fuel) seem rare ... First night
looks like maybe Iroquois, ON (based on a great recommendation from
John & Jo Beer)- with a campground at the end of the runway. Next night
possibly Drummondville,PQ, camping again, with a party with the local club,
then on to Riviere du Loup,PQ, or maybe Mont Joli,PQ, for a motel.... etc.
A very leisurely start to this part of the trip, for all the new
Ramblers to get acquainted with each other, and Rambling !

Lots of emailing & phoning to do to confirm all this, and
the rest of the stops, but hope to have most of it ready for
Saturday !

Hope to see you all there !

......bobp & Anna

Hi BOB, I just got home today, my wife and I went to the Civil war battle
site at Gettysburg Pa. Very inspiring.
Missed you all at OSH, I did get to see the Archers though. I ended up at
the SPA corn roast on thursday, then beat feet home on fri afternoon. The
ride was un eventful. 97MR spent the whole time floating at the Seaplane base.
The floats gained No water! Woo hoo!! The oak grove is really nice for camping
too. I stayed nice and dry in the tent
Nice feather in the cap for MAM with the v6 in the Moose!
Anyway, really sorry I missed you guys, hope to catch a meeting this fall
Curt 97MR
