Revised Dates for Part I - Ramble 2003

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Hi Ramblers !!

An update on Rebel Ramble 2003 - this years Fly 'n Camp trip
to both coasts ! Registrations are trickling in - we'd like to
hear from you ASAP if you think you can make it for one, or both,
legs of this year's Ramble !!!

I'm embarrassed to report that I screwed up on the dates
for Part I of Ramble 2003 - looks like we won't leave until
July 2nd, and return about July 20th, since Arlington <ACTUALLY> runs
from July 9th to the 13th !!!

I wrote down the wrong dates - but the EAA calendar is wrong too !
In fact, the EAA calendar also has the wrong dates for Sun 'n Fun -
THAT runs from April 2nd to April 8th, for those of you planning
to head south ! The whole Murphy gang will be at Sun 'n Fun this
year, maybe with the "hot-rod" version of the JDM-8 ultralight,
and <maybe> even the Moose on Murphy AMPHIBS !!! Guess that means
there WILL be a great Murphy BBQ this year .... ;-) :-)

Because of the Arlington dates, it looks like we'll need
a few extra days for the trip. I hope it will work out better for
everyone if we leave on Wed. July 2nd, and return before Sun. July 20th.
This should allow for a bit of leeway in case of weather on the way
out.

Please let me know your feelings on this, or other preferred
dates, ASAP, so we can continue with planning.

We have had a lot of good advice on places to visit on the
Ramble East (Part II). Jack & Leanne Niema ("Bluenose" from Ramble 2000)
now with RAA Winnipeg, have offered to put on a BBQ evening for us at
LynCrest Airport, if we can stop there. We WILL !!! Should be a
great party !! - - we DO have to define the dates a bit better now,
though. We can call them enroute to fine-tune it, but it looks like
we could arrive there for Saturday, if we enjoy a leisurely start
to the trip. This will be good, as there are several first-time
Ramblers already registered, and the usual eclectic collection of
different aircraft types ! ;-)

Sorry for the mix-up. Let us know your thoughts !!

Thanks !
.....bobp & Anna

Revised Dates for Part I - Ramble 2003

Post by rebel » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Will there be any floatplanes coming to Vancouver? I am still the only Rebel
on floats in this area. Could take you guys to some neat little alpine
mountain lakes if interested.

Revised Dates for Part I - Ramble 2003

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Thanks for the invite, Walter ! We're looking forward to
meeting up with all the 'Wet Coast' Rebels !! ;-) :-)

Not sure who might be coming on amphibs yet - nobody on floats has
committed yet.... (and mine are still waiting at the factory :-( )

The registrations have only been "TRICKLING" in SLOWLY, so far,
but we do have at least 3 first-timers for the Ramble Part I - West,
and it looks like there will be a good bunch going East, too !!
As usual, it looks like an 'interesting' mix of aircraft types,
- from 85 HP Champs to Pie-Tracers, Cherokees, and a motor-glider !!
Anyone who is fairly certain they can join us, please send in the
registration (with $5 cash), and get on the mailing list. It will
help with the planning.

It looks like the final dates for the trip West will be:
starting on Wednesday, July 2nd, through to July 20th, to give us
some time at Arlington, and a fairly leisurely trip out, with lots
of time for stops like the R.O.N. BBQ at LynCrest (Winnipeg) ! :-)
This is about the same length of time as Ramble 2000, and that worked
out well, even with a bit of weather delay.

Of course, the dates and places are always subject to change,
as this IS "Navigation by Consensus" !!! :-) Always open for
suggestions, and the dates may change to suit the weather ....
and the hangovers ! ;-)

Revised Dates for Part I - Ramble 2003

Post by rebel » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Do you know when you would start your trip back east from here? Would it be
right after the Arlington visit?

As it happens, I am planning a flight to Manitoba this summer, and am trying
to plan some holidays for that. I was thinking of doing it in either mid
July which might coincide with the Ramble back leg, or in mid August.

Regardless, I should be able to meet up with you guys when you are here, and
maybe join in some local flights and events.
