Hi !

Good question !! I've asked about camping at Cornwall.
Don't expect a problem, but won't know until I hear from the airport
manager ..... Will also be looking at motels - there are lots there,
so we might just Ramble in and see what we can get ! ;-)

We will camp at Sherbrooke, and Peterborough, and <could> camp
at St. Raymond. Might be difficult in Ottawa ....

How does the rest of the group feel ??

Or will we just "wing it", as usual ??!!!

Will pass on updates on motels, etc. as I get them.

Hi to both of you

Just a short note to ask you about your last e-mail. You were wanting to
have an idea as to making reservations for Cornwall and St. Raymond's. We
were wondering what the concensus is as to motelling v.s. camping. We would
prefer to camp as much as possible, so we could rent van's/cars when in
Quebec City. There we might consider a motel when we are at St. Raymond's
for our R.O.N's.
As far as the rest of the trip we would like to camp out under the wing if
possible at where we land, as long as we have the availabilty of a washroom
and someplace to eat. (lets hope the weather co-operates for us, or that
may change the schedule)
Hope this gives you and idea from our perspective. Chat with you later!

Ramble

Post by Jim Cole » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:46 am

Bob, I would love to come on at least one leg of the ramble in the
Chief but until I actually fly it - get comfortable with the performance
- and develop the necessary trust in an airplane new to me - I really
can't commit.

On the other hand I did look at a light weight tent at Mountain CoOP
yesterday with this in mind - but we will see?

Regards

Jim

Ramble

Hi Jim !

That's alright - we often have about 65 people registered,
and only 15 or 20 can actually come when the time comes ! It does
help with the planning, though, and makes the mailings easier.
(The $5 doesn't cover printing & postage costs, but it does indicate
<some> committment - it's mostly symbolic - to both of us ! )
We know a lot of things can happen between now & July - heck, WE
almost didn't make it for the first day in 2000 !!! :-)

We will have several newsletters over the next few months,
with lists of equipment and sources others have found useful, like
different tents, sleeping bags, suitcases/bags, and lots of other stuff,
and we're always looking for suggestions. You certainly could fly
along for a couple of days & head back, if there's a problem. Several
people have joined in for just a day or 2 - say from Winnipeg to
Carlyle, or Calgary.

There will be a planning meeting at Brampton on June 1st,
with a chance to see/try some of the camping gear.

Will keep an eye on the weather - call if the day looks good
and the strip is clear, and I'll try to get up there and help you
enjoy the Chief !! :-)
