Subject: Rumble Rebel Remarks

Greetings to all ye rebelious rumble rebels (and to all of you that wanted
to be , would have , should have, and in the main were disenfranchised due
to henpecking or other ailments) who flew (and in some instances crawled)
along with the magnificent nine in their flying machines and followed our
Glorious Leader on his I F R and R/R (this means , I follow roads and
railroads) mission to B C and back.

Despite your predictions, the Blue Angel (with my halo intact) landed at
Midland on Sunday night (following prescribed I F R proceedures) intact,
after an 8 hour flight from Oshkosh. Should any of you go to Oshkosh in
the future, make sure that you have arranged with your local bank manager a
VERY large line of credit --------- Mine got over-drawn when I bought my F18.

On this little excursion to the West Coast and back, the following were in
attendance (more or less) :

!) Glorious Leader! (Read Bbob) Bought a new Murphy just to make sure he
could fly faster than a Zenair 601. He was usually faster, but was usually
the last to fly----- something about not being able to get out of bed in the
mornings(Anna's fault?) and had a fascination with roads and railroads.

2) Steady Stinson Phil ----- Liked to look at the scenery from all
angles----especially Mount Baker in Washington State. I think that Phil was
the only one of us who saw Mount Baker from All sides. (something to do with
navigation or, due to his navigating buddy)

3) J & J (Read Jim & Jean) I dubbed Jim the Oil Baron (something to do
with changing oil for old ladies) Thank God for somebody on this trip that
took it slow & easy!!!!! I can still hear Jim on the radio saying "Welllll
NNowwww Okayyyyyyyy--- We'llll just have to dooooooo thaaaaaaaat I
gueeeeeees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd fly with
him anytime!!!!(as long as Jean was there to keep him on a straight path)

4) Air Farce One (read Pere) I can remenber Pere's position reports.
Whenever somebody would radio & ask "Pere, where are you?, " he would come
back and say "I'am here!!" (Gave me a warm feeling to know that???)

5) Yellow Bird (read Clive) Clive and our Glorious Leader must have had
something going!!!! Clive was always no more than a couple of hundred
feet off of Bbob's tail going through the mountain passses. Glad he was
along though, because without his repair depot in the back of his plane,
some of us would have had a problem.

6) Red Baron (read Bill and his co=hort) The RED Baron (without the white
scarf) was usually the first to take off and the first to land (not always
at the right place). I verily believe and attest that the Red Baron was
under the impression that there was a prize for getting somewhere(or
anywhere) first. Sorry Bill!!!!!! P. S. I still owe you two bucks U.
S. !!!!!!!! ---------Can I pay you with Crappy Tire money??

7) Horst - (never did get around to giving Horst a nickname ---- probably
because I didn't want to tell him he was just flying a Cesna-Not a Folke
Wufe. Horst did have some problems---namely the sidewalk runway at
Winkler Manitoba, his propensity to be on the wrong side on my downwind leg
at Okotoks Alberta, and last but not least!!! his plaintive cry over the
radio going thru the Rockies----- I'am LOST!!!

8) Bluenose (read the Banker from Alberta) They joined our rabble group on
the way for a few days, and didn't tell me that he was in the money lending
business till the last minute, otherwise I would have hit him up for a loan
to buy a REAL airplane.

9) Blue Angel (Read the most stable, nicest, gentlemanly, debonaire(what's
that mean?) person on this trip. ---------Cris van....
Despite all the villifications, depredations and all the rest of the bull,
I had an absolute ball!!!!! I personally learned how to Scud run(Read 200
ft or below), fly I FR according to our Glorious Leader, and , last but not
least, I used 3 1/2 gallons of fuel per hour on my non-real airplane
!!!!!!!! (eat your wallets on that one guys!!!)

It was a pleasure and a prevelige to have flown with all of you and I hope
to see all of you in September at Jim & Jean's place in Kinky Cardine.

Regards!!!!!
