Ramble Meeting notes -1

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 am

Here are some of the notes from the Planning Meeting :

Rebel Ramble 2000
____________________________________________________
8th Annual Rebel Ramble - July 7 - 23rd, 2000 - Brampton to British Columbia

NOTES

- Web address for downloading U.S. FAA S.F.A. letter - (needed for Canadian
Amateur-Built aircraft to fly in U.S.A. )

http://www.faa.gov/avr/afs/afs800/tccissu4.pdf

- Web address for downloading of Canadian SFA Letter - (for U.S. Experimental
Aircraft to fly in Canada)
http://www.tc.gc.ca/
aviation/mainten/regs&docs/download.htm
(note: in MS Word format only !)

**** ONE (your country) of the ABOVE is required to be ON BOARD the
aircraft
to be LEGAL ****

- Also note that Public Liability Insurance MUST be carried to fly in Canada -
check minimum requirements ! ( I <think> that $100,000 is minimum,
BUT $1 Million is more reasonable !)

- Customs form 339-A - Annual User Fee Decal Request - Aircraft.... MUST be
filled in at time of clearing Customs, unless you already have a decal.
Fee is $25 USD, CASH (have exact change !!).
Copies of forms supplied - or can be obtained from Customs at time of entry.
(better to have completed and ready !)

- Customs form 178 - Private Aircraft Enforcement System Arrival Report ....
MUST be filled in at time of clearing Customs ( NO charge ) . Copies supplied
- or may be obtained at entry time. Customs REALLY like these to be filled in
already when you arrive - otherwise, DELAYS can result ! ( You should have
an EXTRA form ready in case we decide to return to Canada on the return trip,
and re-enter the USA closer to Oshkosh. )

- Customs MUST be telephoned at least an hour BEFORE arrival - ADCUS on flight
plans is NOT enough !!
(We will try to call ONCE, for the whole group, IF we are ALL together ! )

- A Flight Plan MUST be filed to cross the border ! (IF we all fly together, we
can file ONE plan for a "flight of 20" - OR, different groups of similar
speeds might file as "flight of 6" .... )

- Ramble Name Tags and Ramble 2000 Buttons will be filled in & given out at the
Ramble Kick-Off Party on Friday, July 7th, at Brampton. Please wear them for
Press Interviews and Chapter/Club Visits en route.

- Maps - a complete package should be ordered NOW, for delivery in June, as soon
as the new maps arrive.
Call VIP Pilot Supplies at 1-800-361-1696 and ask for a Rebel Ramble 2000 Kit
- item number K031.
The total with standard shipping is $192.87 CDN. This kit includes ALL the
maps we need, and a new Canadian Flight Supplement. You might want the
US Flight Guides for Western & Central, as well...
You can have Express Shipping (1 day) for $5 extra ....

Ramble Meeting notes -1

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 am

No big problem, Cris !

I'll get a bunch more copies made, and bring them along on
July 7th for everybody who didn't get them. They don't take long to
fill in, and aren't needed until we get to Customs, on Drummond Island.
(Worst case, Customs will supply the forms .... )

Brampton Flying Club are having their Annual Pre-Oshkosh BBQ
on the 7th, as well, so we should have a fair sized party !!

I'll try to bring some along on the fly-in to Gore Bay Airport
on Manitoulin Island, on June 24/25, as well....
