Ramble meeting & W-U Weekend

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 am

Cris,
Sorry you can't make it ! I'll try to post the results of the
meeting, and an update on the Warm-Up Weekend.

At the moment, it looks like we will not have the Warm-Up on the
following weekend, but instead have a Fly-In to Gore Bay Airport,
on Manitoulin Island, to camp, on June 24th & 25th. This would be very
useful, as getting to Gore Bay covers a big chunk of the first day of
the Ramble . <All> to be decided at the meeting .....
(In keeping with 'navigation by consensus ! :-) )

Will keep everybody updated !!

We should have no problem recognizing you on 'Ramble Radio' now,
anyway - considering the cause of you missing the meeting !! (Your new,
<much higher> voice should be conspicuous !!) ;-) :-)

Ramble meeting & W-U Weekend

Post by C. Van » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 am

Bob

Despite myself, I still have my usual "lilting" and SWEET (my opinion of
course) voice. It could be something to do with my having to spend some
very excruciating (how do you like that word?) times spent on Sunday in a
fur store in Toronto, and having to sit thrue live performances by Lional
Richie and (Screaming) Tina Turner.
Oh well----We all have to make sacrifices, and so it is only fair to tell
your wife that there are FANTASTIC (according to my better half) fur sales
on Spadina Ave.

In any event, it looks like your meeting went well, and I will try to get to
Gore Bay .

For your info, I bought me one of these 3 second put-up and 30 minute take
down tents about 2 years ago = My condolences in that I can now re-pack my
single jobby in approx 5 minutes.=== after 2 years of practising.

I intend to bring a single burner kerosene stove with me, and a spare
hand=held radio. If necessarry, I can also bring along a GPS90 out of my
701 if you feel it would be of some use to you (would'nt want you to get
lost )

Let me know what other useful things we might need===I know this company in
town here who has a carte=blanc Crappy Tire card, and the guy who moniters
the account for the company is half blind, and according to my better half,
not too bright.

Regards!!!!!

Ramble meeting & W-U Weekend

Post by C. Van » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 am

Bob

"Somebody" told me that at your and my age, the only way we could be
dangerous is to get an extension done (get my drift?)

As long as revenue Canada doesn't catch up with me, Crappy Tire and myself
will have a very symbiotic relationship!-----In the mean time, I'am spending
my kids inheritance on this my final Hurray!--- and hopefully my kids will
disown me , thereby saving me some money for a change.

Bob Patterson

Ramble meeting & W-U Weekend

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 am

Cris,
Yes ! I'd need an extension to my Credit Line !! ;-)

Lots of goodies at Candy Tire - tents, self-inflating air
mattresses, tiny, lightweight Thinsulate sleeping bags, camp stoves,
folding camp chairs, coolers, water bottles, bug repellant, mosquito
netting, and even GPS's .... :-)

Not to mention those new pants with the zip-off legs - might
just try a pair, for hot days .... (if they don't scare the wildlife
too much !! ;-) )

That reminds me, beside a good camera, is <anyone> bringing
a CAMCORDER ?? This would be ideal for the mountains, although you
really can't capture the grandeur on film.... (And, it could be
handy for blackmail shots - have to pay for the trip somehow ! ;-) )

Just spent most of the afternoon putting seam sealer on our
new nylon tent - a "Good Thing"(tm) - for those who are new to camping !
Used up 2 tubes of dab-on seam sealer, and 2 cans of spray waterproofer,
around the bottom. Should keep us dry (for at least 30 seconds ;-) )
This is our nifty "3 second UP, and 30 minute DOWN" tent - actually
got it down & in the bag in about 5 minutes, on my own, this time !
Should be getting good at it by the time the Ramble finishes !! :-)

We're getting down to the wire now - and still looking for
MORE Ramblers ! If you know <anybody> who wants to come along on
"the trip of a lifetime", tell them to register NOW !! It might
be <another> 4 years before we go west again !! Let me know if you
need posters ....

Hope we'll see everybody at Gore Bay Airport on the
24th/25th of June, for a 'test run' !!

.....bobp & Anna
