Hi Guy's
I had my 3 seats for 745E done for about 900 CAD $ from a caravan upholstery
place in a local town. Velco stips on the bottom will hold the cushion in
place on the frame, and the back has a "pocket" in it that slips over the
rear panel of the seat frame. There is a storage pocket sewn into the back
of that fabric as well. Well pleased with the result.

I had a lady here in upper mi that does that kind of work do my seats for
$125 a seat. She made covers that velcroed at the bottom. They have sown in
pleats and 2 different kinds of fabric. Kind of soft leather looking stuff.

Hi Ralph,

MAM no longer supplies parts/services they don't manufacturer themselves
(besides engines/props/windshields). Upholstery is very expensive and prices
can fluctuate, compare your local shops with those shops that do AC
interiors professionally -- the light of day (cost) will show then.

MAM is running on less than min. staff and emails are not priority, I called
yesterday just to get a message saying they're closed for the next couple of
weeks.

wanted over $1200.00 to do both seat covers in fabric only. This is twice
as much as I thought they should be. Maybe I am out of touch ?

I just wrapped about a 5" wide strap of aluminum around the bottom of
the seat back. IIRC I wrapped the aluminum 270 degrees around the
vertical posts and riveted to the post on the inside edge. The inside
and outside (port and starboard) side of the posts are not stressed by
forward and aft seat forces. A sleeve of upholstory material has held
the obus forme back rest in place just fine. I did not know there was
more than one type of these backrests. Mine are one piece and probably
almost 2 feet high. I tried one in my car and found it so comfortable
that it is still there 20 years later.

I assume you are aware of the reinforcing specified by MAM for the older
low back frames. I think even more reinforcing is prudent since even
some of the modified ones have broken.

Working on seats today. Sure wish the original frames were built a
little
higher and while half awake early this morning I was giving thought to
cutting and redoing the up-posts to get more height. You see, I
couldn't
possibly take the easy route and just add a pillow to a standard seat
build. Ha.
