Rebel Seats

I uploaded a pic of my Rebel seats. The rivets are on the back side. As you
can see, there is an additional support. Is this the original stock seat, or
a later version.

Rebel Seats

Hi Jim
From your picture you have the new version of seat back design and should
be OK with the holes drilled at the back. I understand your concern for
your co-pilot mines 19 years old and I still want to tell her who she can
fly with. :o)

Jim
That is the best seatback that I've seen and pretty much what I was
trying to describe. The girl in the photo looks like a sweetheart too...

Ralph Knight

Rebel Seats

Post by Ralph Knight » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:28 pm

I understand that Murphy no longer supplies seat covers. I emailed them
several weeks ago to see if they could at least provide patterns so I can
have them made locally.

They haven't even been able to reply to my email!! So much for customer
service.

Does any one have patterns for the seat covers or the name of a shop that
can make a set for me (I live in Edmonton)? I tried one shop locally and he
wanted over $1200.00 to do both seat covers in fabric only. This is twice
as much as I thought they should be. Maybe I am out of touch ?

Would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks

Hi Gang,

I know it's a long shot but would anyone like to swap their taller seat backs for my low style ones? Please, don't everyone respond at once! One at a time....ha ha Craig

Ben Ransom

Rebel seats

Post by Ben Ransom » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:36 pm

Hi Ken
Actually, I had missed on the MAM seat Safety Bulletin, but getting your
note I see it on the CD. (I thought I had once printed all the MAM
bulletins out and tabbed them into my paper build manual, but had missed
this one.) Was about to head out and pick up some nylon mesh. I'm a
little on the fence about that ...have had some mind to make aluminum
wraps, sort of like continuous-length Adel clamps. I dunno why, but I
have a little preference for the aluminum sheets instead of nylon mesh.

Which Obus Forme backrest is recommended? And do you use it on top of
anything other than the mesh or aluminum seat back?

Thanks a lot,
-Ben

Using an Obus Forme instead of padding in the low seat back frame

pillow ;)

I assume you are aware of the reinforcing specified by MAM for the older
low back frames. I think even more reinforcing is prudent since even
some of the modified ones have broken.

Thanks, Wayne. Now I just hope I can get one from MAM.

Working on seats today. Sure wish the original frames were built a
little
higher and while half awake early this morning I was giving thought to
cutting and redoing the up-posts to get more height. You see, I
couldn't
possibly take the easy route and just add a pillow to a standard seat
build. Ha.
