Check the archives. This was discussed a while back.
You have to support the rear of the exhaust. One way is to come down
from the firewall with a spring or flexable strap. You should have
received instructions(6 pages). Hope you did not weld or clamp the slip
joints.
Please let Dave Walker know you are another builder who did not receive
instructions.

After six years may be about six months away from getting Rebel 190R in
the air. Have standard O 320 E2D installation (dynafocal mount) with
Murphy speed cowl and cross over exhausts. It seems to me that the
lower exhausts (below the slip joints) should somehow be fastened to the
engine. Has anybody any experience with the best way of doing this or,
for a dynafocal installation, does it need to be done at all? Many
thanks!

Hi There,

Just a thought, I have fitted the cross over exhaust with the streamline
cowl but I have not supported the lower end of the pipe to the engine.

What I did was, just below where the two pipes join to form one pipe, on
both sides, I cut the pipe and formed an expansion type joint that is
bolted loosely together, to stop it moving around too much I have tied it
back on to the firewall with an extension spring.

It seems to work really well, I guess it vibrates at a different frequency
than the pipes closer to the motor.

I have only done about 50hrs on it though, but I am not anticipating any
problems with it.

cheers

Alister Yeoman
