=0AHi Curt,

I didn't know you already have installed this particular unit. Great. N=
ow I
somebody to bother...

I like this flap motor because its light and small, yet powerful enough=
..
I did some sketches, because I have note purchased the unit yet
and thought it's too tight to attach it to the original cable point.
Do you happen to have a drawing or a picture of your setup?

Also, my German FAA equivalent wants flap position indicators; mechanic=
ally,
lights, instrument, anything is o.k.
Any ideas for this challenge?

Thanks. Cheers,
Stefan Pappe, Heidelberg, Germany, #156R=

Hi Stephan,
Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the installation, but Murphy
aircraft
does. Dave Walker took pic's at Oshkosh. Said he may even post them on the
Murphy site. I haven't seen them yet. Actually the installation was very
straight forward. We had left the mixer arm bracket larger than the manual
had
asked for in anticipation of an electric system, so I'm not sure if that
will
effect anything or not, but we just added two brackets to support the top of
the motor, and bolted the bottom to the mixer arm in the original cable
hole.
As far as the indicator goes, I took one of the plastic latch blocks and
square tube, slotted the top and bottom and also slotted the door frame on
the
pilots side. I installed a #4 machine screw through the block, long enough
to
protrude about 3/8 into the door opening. I then installed a spring on the
forward end and ran a small cable to the mixer arm from the rear. As the
mixer
arm moves up the spring keeps the cable tight and slides the block and the
pin. As the mixer arm moves down it obviously pulls on the cable and slides
the block and pin in the other direction. I then just bent a tab behind the
pin(screw) and marked the appropriate points. We chose to mark neutral, +4
and +9 degrees up and -10 and -20 down. Whew!!! I hope that is a little
clearer that mud! I'm glad I don't have to write the manuals!! There has
also
been talk of lights but we chose to go mech.
Good luck, and keep at it. As I always say, the airplane is
worth it!!
