Nope, that won't work without a spacer. Your only other option then is a forward bulkhead only spinner or a spacer. Maybe you can get by with a smaller skull cap style spinner, and still have it doing a good cooling job.

The Vans one does look like the real deal, but I doubt I would be able to fit any rear facing bulkhead between my prop and nosebowl. I have maybe 1/4 or 3/8" there. I may end up giving in to a prop spacer, but the thought of spending a couple hundred on longer prop bolts is annoying. This is one of many examples of how I will build my second airplane better: )

I have installed the fiberglass UHS, aluminum from MAM, and the Vans one on my engines. I much prefer the Vans. It is fiberglass, too, and I think you can trim the rear a bit if necessary to fit. I had the spacer on my prop, so just fitted the cowl to the prop and spinner. But it will depend on just how much space you do have between your nosebowl and prop. Maybe you can find an RV builder in your area, and check it out in person to measure. Or just call Vans.

Cht is fine in cruise, but in climb I go over 400 on #3 pretty easy.
Anyway, I'm looking for advice on spinners. I have an o320/Sensenich. The distance between the nosebowl and prop is minimal, and I really don't want to use a spacer so I either need a forward facing spinner bulkhead, or a uhs style spinner with no aft bulkhead. Has anyone used the aircraft spruce brand aluminum spinners? I can get one of those with a forward facing bulkhead.

Hi Jesse. I'm on my 3rd UHS spinner. The first one was misdrilled by UHS but they replaced it for free even though it had been in service for about 4-5 years. The 3rd one I bought when I changed my engine and prop. I think they have a good product and I recommend it.

Jesse,

If you do buy new prop bolts, let me know because I have a source where
I got my 1/2" bolts for about a hundred. Yours should be cheaper. CW

Jesse, I have the MAN fiberglass cowl and the forword facing flange on the rear bulkhead and there is very little distance between the cowling and the back of the spinner.The spinner kit came with the plane when I bought it as a firewall forword engine change over.The part # was BN-3 and presuming he got it at Aircraft Spruce.When my wife getts back home with the camera I,ll send some pics as its of because sending prop out to get repitched. I think I'm going with the BN-3 with a forward facing flange on the rear bulkhead. Is that what you did, or did you build your cowl so you had enough room for the standard aft bulkhead?
How long did it take to get it from ACS?
