Painting a lycoming engine

Any advice for painting a Lycoming engine?

I am rebuilding an O-235. It is disassembled now and will paint the
components before assembly. Any advice?
* Any special preparation before painting?
* The Lycoming repair manual recommends a prime coat.
* Spray gun or spray can?
* Rustoleum heat resistant paint in a spray can any good? If not what
brand?

Thanks,
Mike

I went to the local "Parts & Paint" store and bought a spray can of Ford
motor blue, and applied it without primer. that was six years, and 300 hr's
ago and it still looks good.
