I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if my bolts are just too long.
I'm working on the installation of the flaperons to the wings. My manual
calls for an AN4-11A bolt to hold the push-pull tube rod end bearing to
the control horn, but even with the AN970-4 penny washer the shank
sticks out so far I would need a total of 4 washers to fill out to the
end of the bolt shank ...I believe a max of 3 is recommended. A AN4-7A
would appear to be the perfect length as shank ends right at the side of
the rod end bearing. (I think 1 1/2 thread into the material would be
allowed.) So is the manual wrong (in my manual for Rebel 306 it's step
181 of the 10/08/93 revision for the wing assembly) or am I missing
something?
Also how tight should the fiber nuts on these be? ...just snug or
torqued to a specific amount?
The groups thoughts would be appreciated.
Many thanks Wray Thompson R306

Hi to all,
Being a none computer nerd, the only way I know how to send every one a
message is to answer someone elses mail. I'm just dropping a line to say
that rebel kit #426- reb is no longer a project. It's an airplane !!! As
of
16:00 est 12-19 97 it is now N97MR. The FAA came and certified. It ws a
good, straight foward, inspection with a couple of insights and a couple of
"keep an eye on" type of things. The inspector had previously done a Murphy
on skis in Wisconsion, so he was familiar with the aircraft, and I feel that
was a good deal of help. The anxiety leading up to the inspection really
was
unjustified. Basic numbers? three years, 3000 hrs. Two guys working
together. 970 empty weight, unpainted until afer flight testing is
complete.
I.F.R. certified. keep at it, you can finish!!!
Flight testing figures will follow in days to come. Curt
