[rebel-builders] MAM aircraft sales

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 7:47 pm

Hi Tom !

Murphy is still selling kits ! Like several other vendors, they
skipped Oshkosh this year ... it is a bit expensive, and the
economy is not healthy. Actually, we were surprised to see
about as many people at OSH this year as last - but fewer vendors.
This was especially noticeable in the buildings - they had removed
one full row of vendor booths, making for nice wide aisles - and
there were fewer aviation vendors, more jewellery, chairs, etc....

The Yukon was not completed to the "show" stage, and they
felt it best not to bring it again that way - and save the ~ $50K
the show would cost, to use on completing it.

Several people we spoke to said they were surprised by the
crowd, but figured there were many folks there who were
unemployed, and so had free time, and wanted something to do !

Be interested to know who was saying Murphy were not
selling kits ..... surely not Aerocomp !

Same thing at the Sun'Fun the last 2 years. They "squeeze" too much on the
lemon! Very expensive to be there for a vendor. Murphy is selling the
Renegade business may be that confuse some people...

Hi Bob,

Had to buy some kit bits recently from MAM and spoke with Stephane.

In the conversation he mentioned that consideration was given to getting out
of the kit business but at the end of the day the company recommitted to
staying in the business. But not quite totally as MAM no longer
supplies/carries rivets for sale. But, I seem to remember a recent
discussion about an Ontario supplier of rivets at a competitive price. I
think the company was Avdell or Avtell or something like that Anyone got
the contact details????

Cheers
