[rebel-builders] Rebel - tapered corner wraps (Fus-10) over or unde

Post by bransom » Sun Feb 19, 2012 7:47 pm

I've already got some of the triangle and Fus-26 riveted to the door sill
channel, although I have left out rivets where the tapered corner wrap ties
in. Having already riveted dictates** leaving the trangle (25) on the
outside of the rectangle (26), but I can still put the corner wrap inside
or in between (or outside, for that matter, which would look bad).

**I could drill out about 10 rivets along the Fus-26-to-sill line, then
pull Fus-26 off far enf to get the triangle back underneath. But these are
solid flush rivets, to alleviate squawk raised by some on the door not
sealing well against dome rivets. The solids went in nice the first time so
I'm inclined to quit while I'm ahead.
Guess there's less chance of snagging pants if the triangle
is INSIDE .... no biggie, though.

Might be worth upgrading that triangle to .025, if it
isn't already ... that would make that whole section
all .025 ..
Yep, got all that area beefed up, but always, thanks for the reminders!
.030 door sills and Fus-25, and doubled panels (to .040) for Fus-26.
Planning on 0320 engine and no firewall movement during build or flight. ;)

Sounds good. I was really scratching my head trying to figure this out
until I found the picture, but with no mention in the manual, I'm grateful
for the advice. I may end up with the triangle Fus-25 outside of the
rectangle Fus-26.

Oh, yeah, and I've done those O mods you mentioned, thanks. I shoulda
said Fus-70. I've made my own .025 Fus-70 pieces btw. Not hard to do.

Hi Ben !

Not sure it really matters ..... certainly looks OK
this way, and can't remember EVER seeing one OVER
the FUS-26 -- but I'm no expert.

The pic reminded me, though, that one Ontario mod
is to increase FUS-26 to .032 or .040, and add a vertical
channel or 2 behind it - or pieces of stringer..
Also, if you have a choice, it would be better to use
FUS-70's (.025) for ALL of the 8 corner wraps ....
might save some grief later.
