Rudder Cable Sealing at Firewall

Post by GaryK » Thu Aug 27, 2020 8:27 pm

Not sure what other folks have done but on Yukon and Moose , the rudder pulleys are on engine side of firewall with slots cut for the cables to pass through into floor of cabin. This provides a big access for fumes to get under cabin floor , since the area around joystick is not sealed, it would pass into the cabin. On my Tricycle gear Yukon , there is 2 vertical U channels to spread nose strut forces upward that are next to the rudder pulleys. Here's photos of sheet metal cover, that I made.

I notice that some folks move their rudder pedals backward a few inches which may allow pulleys to be installed on other side of firewall. I looked at that but decided it would extend my arm reach to panel.
